Beltane \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Beltane Moon<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I love dogs. \u00a0Anyone who knows me or who reads this blog knows that. \u00a0I love Gertie. \u00a0You may not know Gertie, but she is one of our dogs, a German short-hair we picked up after her Denver home was no longer suitable for her.<\/p>\n

(as you can see by this photo, she’s no ordinary dog.)<\/p>\n

But, then again. \u00a0Gertie keeps escaping. \u00a0She did this in Denver and now she has figured out a way to do the same here. \u00a0Real frustrating. \u00a0When our other dogs escaped, we worried only about their safety. \u00a0They were lovers, not fighters.<\/p>\n

Gertie, on the other hand, got prodded and poked, teased by her neighbors in Denver. \u00a0She got bit and incited by her crate mate Sollie. \u00a0She lives with us now in harmony. \u00a0However. \u00a0She will not trust the kindness of strangers. \u00a0She suspects strangers and will not hesitate to bite them. \u00a0Not always, but once is too much.<\/p>\n

When she escapes, we worry not only about her safety, but that of others. \u00a0That makes containing her a priority. \u00a0That means I’m back at it again, trying to outsmart the dog.<\/p>\n

This puts me in the business of working with my hands. \u00a0Frustrating. \u00a0I get testy when I have to work with my hands because I’m not good at it, each move from planning to drilling to stringing wire challenges my capacity and I. Don’t. Like. That. \u00a0Put that together with the frustration of repeated elopements. \u00a0Let’s just say it’s not party time.<\/p>\n

I had a plan. I executed the plan. \u00a0Gertie jumped over my plan. \u00a0Grrr. \u00a0I modified the plan. \u00a0We’ll see now. \u00a0I have more plans. \u00a0This is a lesson in something, zen stillness or inner tranquility or zoo keeper 101. \u00a0The latter, I think.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
