A quiet Sunday. \u00a0Up about 7 with the dogs. \u00a0Breakfast, oatmeal and a banana. \u00a0Downstairs to write my first pass on the assignment for the mythology class. \u00a0After that over to Festival. \u00a0Back. \u00a0Had two more pieces of pizza for lunch. \u00a0I said it was quiet day.<\/p>\n
Started the soup, a thirteen-bean soup. \u00a0I soaked the beans over night, rinsed them, a bit foamy, added 5 quarts of water (I know. A lot of soup.) and a smoked turkey leg (replacing a\u00a0ham-hock. \u00a0Less fatty, still smoky), brought it up to a boil, down to simmer for 3 hours. \u00a0Took a nap.<\/p>\n
Got the ingredients for the \u00a0last thirty minutes of the soup together: \u00a02 quarts tomatoes, chili powder, dried garlic flakes (ours), an onion, 2 cups worth. \u00a0This red onion made me back away from the counter, chemical warfare. \u00a0Damn effective. \u00a0All into the pot. \u00a0Boil again. \u00a0Wait.<\/p>\n
It’s done. \u00a0Cooling. \u00a0Supper tonight. \u00a0And for many other nights. \u00a0A lot of it, most of it, will go in the freezer. \u00a0Tired of eating meat, fatty things, over indulgence. \u00a0Don’t like it but I do it anyhow. \u00a0A puzzle.<\/p>\n
