{"id":22143,"date":"2013-09-07T15:14:03","date_gmt":"2013-09-07T21:14:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/?p=22143"},"modified":"2013-09-07T15:14:03","modified_gmt":"2013-09-07T21:14:03","slug":"gong-fu-cha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/?p=22143","title":{"rendered":"Gong Fu Cha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lughnasa \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Harvest Moon<\/p>\n<p>Kate and I were out before 8 am today harvesting raspberries, tomatoes, cucumbers and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMAG0898.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-22145\" alt=\"IMAG0898\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMAG0898-300x169.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMAG0898-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMAG0898-1024x577.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>ground cherries. \u00a0The tomatoes and cucumbers are in their last week +. \u00a0The ground cherries seem set to keep on producing through the first heavy frost and the raspberries have only begun to ripen. \u00a0We still have peppers and leeks, a few greens left.<\/p>\n<p>During our weekly business meeting we melted more bees wax and this time attempted to fill the mold. \u00a0Only I had not melted enough wax so I had to melt some more. \u00a0That means the molds which didn&#8217;t fill ended up with two layers of wax. \u00a0That worked out ok in a couple of cases, not in two others.<\/p>\n<p>Discovered that the wax has to be washed since the remnant honey, which has a different specific gravity than the wax, gathers and in two cases created a plug of honey between two layers of wax. \u00a0Those two have gone back in the bowl for remelting. \u00a0I have seven beautiful sweet smelling candles and will have a few more, probably made this time in half-pint canning jars for gifts. \u00a0Rendering some more wax as I write this.<\/p>\n<p>After the business meeting, I drove into <a href=\"http:\/\/verdanttea.com\/\">Verdant Tea<\/a>\u00a0and bought two <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Yixing_clay_teapot\">yixing<\/a> tea pots. \u00a0This <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Zhu-ni-teapot_.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-22144 alignright\" alt=\"Zhu-ni-teapot_\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Zhu-ni-teapot_-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Zhu-ni-teapot_-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Zhu-ni-teapot_.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>is a present to myself for finishing Missing and getting ready to write Loki&#8217;s Children. \u00a0They&#8217;ll be in constant use. \u00a0Yixing teapots are perfect for the Chinese way of tea, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thechineseteashop.com\/gong-fu-cha.html\">Gong Fu Cha<\/a>. \u00a0Each teapot goes through a seasoning process (at home) and then makes only one type of tea. \u00a0The porosity of the yixing clay fills up with the oils of that particular tea and enhances the flavor. \u00a0This is a centuries old tradition in China.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lughnasa \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Harvest Moon Kate and I were out before 8 am today harvesting raspberries, tomatoes, cucumbers and ground cherries. \u00a0The tomatoes and cucumbers are in &hellip;
