Still a long ways to go. \u00a0He also said he was very pleased with my progress. \u00a0Nice to hear. I&#8217;ve been studying Latin for 4 years now and have become accustomed to the plateau, slog, plateau, slog nature of the work.<\/p>\n<p>Recently it felt like I&#8217;d been slogging, not able to lift myself up to the next level. \u00a0Then, Greg pushed me to try a new method. \u00a0I did and I&#8217;m now working faster and more precisely. \u00a0Even so, the closer I get, the more the smaller details stick up, stub my toe. \u00a0That is, what used to be approximation, close but ok, now has to turn into literal Latin, then idiomatic English.<\/p>\n<p>Somewhere ahead of me is trust. \u00a0A point where I can trust my own work without a need to consult Greg. \u00a0At least not very often. \u00a0That&#8217;s more years yet ahead.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what I would like to achieve with this work: \u00a01. \u00a0My own translation of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/606.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-23860\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/606-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"606\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/606-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/606-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/606.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>Metamorphoses and the resultant embedding of its stories in my memory. \u00a02. \u00a0A commentary for certain parts. \u00a03. \u00a0The renewal of interest in Ovid at the elementary, middle school, high school and introductory college level.<\/p>\n<p>These are, I know, ambitious goals, but they nest together, one reinforcing the other.
