Today’s focus was Latin. \u00a0The sight reading has gotten easier though there are still instances like verse 215. \u00a0After struggling with it, I looked over to see what I’d gotten in the slower pace of translating with helps. \u00a0Brackets. \u00a0215 looked like this \u00a0{ \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 }.<\/p>\n
As the Latin begins to loosen its occult barriers, the little things, as I said a couple of weeks ago, loom larger. \u00a0Is that a neuter plural? \u00a0Yes. \u00a0Well, it can’t modify that masculine singular. \u00a0Oh. \u00a0Yeah. \u00a0Sounds obvious and it is, unless it isn’t. \u00a0Choosing the right English word to translate a particular Latin word is harder for me. \u00a0 I still haven’t read enough Latin to know what Latin authors usually mean by a particular word. \u00a0All the meanings seem possible.<\/p>\n
But these are advanced problems and I’m happy to have them.<\/p>\n
