Just back from caucus.\u00a0 A blessedly short event.\u00a0 Obama won our precinct 58 to 36.\u00a0 Kate’s PNHP group passed out\u00a0a\u00a0sample resolution for universal health care, single payer.\u00a0 I presented it and it passed.\u00a0 Though not without some troubling debate.\u00a0 One young voter said, “Wouldn’t that be a monopoly?\u00a0 That’s against the constitution and Federal law.”\u00a0 He had a worried look.\u00a0 So did I, after that breath taking example of civic ignorance.\u00a0 A woman said, “It’s been shown that competition makes things better.\u00a0 The Canadian and British systems don’t provide good care if you have a special case, just for most of the\u00a0people.”\u00a0 Well, health care for most of the people would be a hell of an improvement on what we have.\u00a0 As I left, a man came up, took my hand, and said, “Good job.\u00a0 Thanks.”\u00a0 Felt good.<\/p>\n
