Ate breakfast at the hotel…not again.\u00a0 Way too expensive. I knew that but I was not awake.<\/p>\n
Wandered over to Whaler’s Village and bought a new hat, looked in the windows.\u00a0 There’s a scrimshaw shop that has objects inspired by netsuke, only about twice as large.\u00a0 Well done, though.\u00a0 Tommy Bahama, Reyn Spooner, Island Living, Maui Dive Shop, Honolua Surf Shop.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Noticed the palm trees around the resorts all have piton marks.\u00a0 To prune these trees little guys clamber up the trunk with piton’s attached to boots and a leather belt around their waist.\u00a0 The trunks have the scars.\u00a0 Looks like abuse.<\/p>\n
A lot of people here.\u00a0 More than I remember from previous visits.\u00a0 Not as many Japanese, though they are still here.\u00a0 The frontdesk has\u00a0 a Japanese language newspaper and there is a concierge for Japanese speakers.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Kate and I are off to Lahaina Town.\u00a0 There is a banyan tree there that spreads out over half a city block.<\/p>\n
