{"id":3921,"date":"2009-09-27T22:13:39","date_gmt":"2009-09-28T04:13:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/?p=3921"},"modified":"2009-09-27T22:13:39","modified_gmt":"2009-09-28T04:13:39","slug":"kate-the-earth-mother","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/?p=3921","title":{"rendered":"Kate the Earth Mother"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fall\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Waxing Blood Moon<\/p>\n<p>Kate made pasta sauce(s) from our tomatoes.\u00a0 She also made an eggplant (ours) parmesan that we had with one of her sauces along with a toss salad of our tomatoes, basil and mozzarella.\u00a0 Pretty tasty.\u00a0 Kate has preserved, conserved, cooked and sewed on her two days off.\u00a0 In this environment where her movement does not have to (literally) bend to her work her back and neck don&#8217;t flare as much.<\/p>\n<p>After the 40 mph wind gusts I went out and walked the perimeter again, checking for downed limbs.\u00a0 Just a few stray branches, none big.\u00a0 I did find an insulator where the rope had pulled away. \u00a0 I used the insulator itself and plastic case to nudge the\u00a0 hot wire back into place.\u00a0 The fence does its job, but it requires constant surveillance.\u00a0 Fortunately, the energizer has an led that flashes while the fence is hot.\u00a0 That makes checking on the juice much easier.<\/p>\n<p>Friend and Woolly Bill Schmidt said he enjoyed the fence saga from his apartment.\u00a0 He said he spent many nights, often at 2 am, shooing cows back in the field.\u00a0 Electric fences are part of farming and he had many helpful hints.\u00a0 He didn&#8217;t seem nostalgic for installing or maintaining a fence.<\/p>\n<p>Both grandkids are sick.\u00a0 Jon and Jen face the dilemma of all working parents, how to handle sick kids and work.\u00a0 This is never easy and can create unpleasant situations.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m grateful for the rain and the cool down.\u00a0 Cooler weather means plants ratchet down their metabolism so they need less water and food.\u00a0 It&#8217;s time for that.\u00a0 The rain helps our new shrubs and trees.\u00a0\u00a0 They&#8217;ve got the rest of the fall to settle in and get their roots spread out in their new homes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fall\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Waxing Blood Moon Kate made pasta sauce(s) from our tomatoes.\u00a0 She also made an eggplant (ours) parmesan that we had with one of her sauces along with a toss salad of our tomatoes, basil and mozzarella.\u00a0 Pretty tasty.\u00a0 Kate has preserved, conserved, cooked and sewed on her two days off.\u00a0 In this environment where &hellip;
