“Don Christy doesn’t care what you think about his\u00a0parade float. To him, the words “Lying African” in front of a\u00a0depiction of\u00a0President Barack Obama\u00a0was funny.<\/p>\n

Many, however, are questioning the town officials, police and organizers who\u00a0allowed the 73-year-old\u00a0Christy to drive the display\u00a0in\u00a0Monday’s Fourth of July parade in Sheridan, a rural community of 2,900\u00a0in northern Hamilton County, north of\u00a0Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

“I’m not a Democrat. I’m not a Republican,” Christy told IndyStar. “I’m a patriot.”<\/p>\n

Christy wore a\u00a0prison jumpsuit and a blond wig while driving a golf cart in the parade. The\u00a0cart’s roof displayed signs in support of presumptive Republican presidential nominee\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>. On the front\u00a0was the head of a stuffed animal with a sign reading “African Lion.”\u00a0On the back,\u00a0a doll with an Obama mask was propped in a toilet with a sign reading\u00a0“Lying African.””<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
