Today is the spring equinox.\u00a0 We’ve made it through another winter.<\/p>\n
The bees have already begin to buzz and plant life has pushed light green shoots through the soil.\u00a0\u00a0 The days have begun to warm and yesterday I felt the warmth of the sun on my neck.\u00a0 What a treat!<\/p>\n
Spring, more than anything else, presses us into realm of fertility and abundance, the efflorescence of mother earth that feeds us all.\u00a0 Birds come back from their winter homes.\u00a0 Gardener’s start plants for their gardens.\u00a0 Some folks lift their house, an expression I heard first in Minnesota.\u00a0 It means spring cleaning.\u00a0 Or spring cleaning means lifting the house.\u00a0 Whatever.<\/p>\n
This is a good day to consider the things that are tender shoots in your life.\u00a0 Maybe’s its that new package of bees on the way from California, that novel you finally set down to write, that language you finally got started on.\u00a0 Maybe it’s a redesign of your living space, your occupational space, your own, internal space.\u00a0 Remember that tender shoots require care, yes, but also remember that those tender shoots have power behind them, power rooted in the part of you that made them surface.\u00a0 Some of those shoots, most of them, the best thing you can do, let them flourish at their pace.\u00a0 Don’t force them.<\/p>\n
Watch for baby birds, puppies, infants, kittens, new plants.\u00a0 They are the concrete hope out of which we make not only this world, but the future one, too.\u00a0 They are reason you exist, to care for them, to provide a nourishing environment for their growth.\u00a0 Those tenders shoots in your life are the same.\u00a0 They are the concrete hope out of which you will make these moments in your life and the future ones.\u00a0 So, be kind to them.\u00a0 Let’em grow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
