Ray, the Andover High School junior who mows our yard, came over today and we moved the shredded bark into its home on the beds and walkways of the vegetable garden.\u00a0 He’s 15 or 16.\u00a0 I’m not.\u00a0 Nap time will be important today.<\/p>\n
We discussed his swimming.\u00a0 He swims for the Andover High School team.\u00a0 “Is the Andover team any good?”\u00a0 “Well, it’s a young program.\u00a0 Not like Anoka’s.”\u00a0 He admires Michael Phelps and has that swimmer body with the developed upper chest and broad shoulders.\u00a0 He came here from swimming.\u00a0 5 days a week during the summer, 6 during the school year.\u00a0 Dedicated.<\/p>\n
We found him courtesy of a copied flier he put in our mail-box.\u00a0 It was good timing since Kate, our mower, had hip surgery scheduled in June.\u00a0 Ray also does other yard work, like helping me re-mulch the vegetable gardens.\u00a0 He works hard, thinks ahead and is generally pleasant.\u00a0 A testament to his kind.\u00a0 The teen-age boy kind.<\/p>\n
The Herd rumbles into Andover around 6 or so.\u00a0 Kate’s worked hard to get the food ready.\u00a0 She also did a lot of weeding over the week-end.\u00a0 It’s nice to have her home and I’ll be glad when she retires in January.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
