{"id":7888,"date":"2010-09-27T22:24:14","date_gmt":"2010-09-28T04:24:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/?p=7888"},"modified":"2010-09-27T22:27:29","modified_gmt":"2010-09-28T04:27:29","slug":"chicken-pot-pies-and-memories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/?p=7888","title":{"rendered":"Chicken Pot Pies and Memories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fall\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Waning Back to School Moon<\/p>\n<p>Before the Vikings game on Sunday I made two chicken pot pies, whole pies filled with chicken, vegetables and a thickened vegetable broth made in the process.\u00a0 These are my second and third meat pies and I find I enjoy making them as much as I do soup.\u00a0 Something about baking a pie that has meat and vegetables intrigues me.\u00a0 This one had our leeks, potatoes, onions, carrots, garlic, parsley and thyme.\u00a0 My favorite vegetable from this garden is the leek.\u00a0 The subtle flavor and the delicate flesh of the leek both appeal to my palate.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few of the ingredients plus a tomato and raspberries from our garden.\u00a0 This potato looks similar to the woman of la mouthe in the MIA&#8217;s collection.\u00a0 At least to my eye.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-7889\" title=\"670_0300\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/670_0300-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"670_0300\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/670_0300-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ancientrails.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/670_0300.jpg 670w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/> Fresh ingredients are key to Italian, Chinese and vegetarian cooking so a garden facilitates those cuisines, at least during the harvest system.\u00a0 Our best meals of the summer happen in September.<\/p>\n<p>Visiting Westminster today brought up all kinds of memories.\u00a0 Don Meisel, former head pastor, came into the men&#8217;s room once during a Presbytery meeting.\u00a0 I had a report on top of the urinal, reading it.\u00a0 Don said, &#8220;My, you must get a lot of work done.&#8221;\u00a0 Presbyterian humor.
