Tomorrow I take off for Lincoln, Nebraska to pick up our two grand-dogs, Sollie and Gertie.\u00a0 They will stay with us while Jon and Jen’s house has renovation work done, adding another room, a new roof, much needed closets.\u00a0 Sollie has been on a hunger strike for the last six months so we’ll see how he responds to a new environment.\u00a0 He’s begun gaining weight just recently, so I hope the new digs don’t throw him off.\u00a0 Gertie has a canine temperament much like Rigel and Celt, our first Irish Wolfhound.\u00a0\u00a0 That means she’s an adventuress–read, tries to escape all the time, territorial, mischievous and damned cute.\u00a0 I have a hunch she’ll met Mr. Electric Fence soon after arriving here.<\/p>\n
We have plenty of space for them and we have had, at one point, seven dogs, so managing this many is not new for us.\u00a0 Besides this’ll be just five.<\/p>\n
Though I enjoy long drives by myself this will be a marathon.\u00a0 One day to Lincoln.\u00a0 Spend the night.\u00a0 One day back.\u00a0 This is because I don’t want to handle Gertie and Sollie in a motel.\u00a0 I don’t want to lose them, after all.\u00a0 I got a couple of audio books for the journey, so I’ll just settle in for\u00a0 several hundred miles and listen.<\/p>\n
