Fall                                                                          Harvest Moon

OK.  So, I did my aerobics tonight.  Back at it and it feels good.  Still can’t lift, but I can do the treadmill, working toward the high intensity workouts I’ve been doing.  On Sunday I’ll put in the Empress Wu hosta, several kinds of reblooming Iris and an early spring through summer batch of tulips.  I’ll also add the small bar to my aggressive colony and turn it to the smallest hole, allowing the bees out during winter, but not allowing mice to get in.

Fall                                                                  Harvest Moon

Decided to take the rest of this week for convalescence.  Gonna lie low, read, not push myself.  There’s no award for best recovery ever anyhow.  I generally stay to a fairly firm work schedule, work hard am, nap, work hard late afternoon, evening relax.  Just setting that aside for a bit.

Fall                                                                           Harvest Moon

It keeps coming back to me.  Watching Bill’s farmer hands stroke Regina’s hair line and her hair.  He was gentle, loving.  So present to her and this only hours before she died.

Fall                                                                              Harvest Moon

Ah, the life of the carefree retiree.  Teeth on Monday, luncheon with the other clients of our financial planner on Tuesday, then hernia surgery on Thursday.  Perfect.

Fall                                                                           Harvest Moon

A challenge.

World history in 100 objects.  British Museum Book, intriguing idea.  What if you had to define your life using, say 50 objects?  What would they be?

I’m going to try to answer this question for myself.

Lugnasa                                                                     Garlic Planting Moon

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep — not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Lugnasa                                                                Garlic Planting Moon

New garlic varieties for planting arrive this next week.  Combined with the biggest bulbs from this year’s crop they’ll plump up our crop for next year.  To assist them I tossed two and a half bags of composted manure into the bed where they will sleep over the winter months.  I also cut down the potato vines, preparing the tubers below to harden before I harvest them two weeks or so from now.

Kate’s playing with graph paper and the calculator, determining how much compost we’ll need for the new vegetable beds we’re planning for along the sidewalk next spring.  We haven’t decided whether we’ll rock, landscaping stone or wood to create the raised beds.  All this work needs to be done before September 27th because I will not be able to lift over 30 pounds for a month after my hernia surgery.

Summary of Missing getting closer to the end.  Ideas keep coming.  The work, not really revising yet, has its really boring moments.  Yawning.  Urge to do something else.  Fortunately, my freedom software locks down the internet while I’m working.
