In spite of an 8-16 inch winter storm warning Jefferson County only lowered its stage 2 fire ban to a stage 1 ban. The particulars of this decision are not obvious to me though I’m encouraged by more conservative approaches to fire safety. The potential consequences make us all a little, maybe a lot, nervous.

Quite a productive day today. Got my glasses fixed. Got my left knee injected with steroids. Went to Whistling Duck, which has had our money since May and not produced a table. Got a firm date for its start and its delivery. In the mid-afternoon over to Bear Creek Designs for a discussion of the elements for Kate’s bathroom remodel.

Inviting our cold war enemy to spy on a running candidate for President? Then trying to shrug it off as sarcasm? I call this what it is: treason. Plain and simple. In any other election year, when the public gag reflex had not been systematically desensitized, this comment about asking the Russians to find e-mails purportedly linked to Hillary Clinton would have resulted in demands for Donald Trump to be tried as a traitor.
This year? Well, Trump said he could murder someone in New York and not lose any votes. Shame on us as a country. Shame on us.

1,200 feet above us, at 10,000 feet 5-10″ of snow is falling. We’re getting rain. So, no first snow yet, though we will get snow showers today according to the forecasts.
