  • Going for the Circuit

    Beltane                                                  Waning Flower Moon

    So much for a quieter day.  I group errands until I have enough time to do many at once. Today I hopped in the car and took off for the post office where I got my long delayed Oxford Latin Dictionary.  It now stands right next to my OED.  Can’t wait to use it.

    Next stop, Lights on Broadway in Brooklyn Park, trying to get the halogen light fixtures we bought there a couple of years ago repaired.  Got great assistance from Adam, but no joy on an immediate fix.  He’s going to see if we can get a warranty replacement.

    When I left Lights on Broadway, I gritted my teeth and prepared to encounter that most oxymoronic of all terms:  Comcast Customer Service.  Whoa.  Big surprise. Went smoothly.  Talk about disintermediation.  I pick up, deliver and install all of my electronic devices for them.  I’m old enough to remember the smiling gas station attendant who would offer to check under the hood.  Sigh.

    Next stop Teavana where I picked up 4 ounces of Copper Hongcha and 4 ounces of Jasmine Pearl.  After tacos at a place next to the Sleep Comfort bed folks, I headed back home.  2 hours plus round trip.

    Winter                                      Waning Moon of Long Nights

    Kate and I had our business meeting, checking this box and that, doing those things couples need to do to keep life solid and sane.

    Afterward, we saddled up the old Tundra and drove her over to the Maple Grove shopping area where we made investments in food:  12 qt. stock pot, melamine mixing bowls, a scraper or two, some coffee and dish towels.  I also purchased bulk tea at Tea Vana, but was disappointed to learn that they no longer carried my long time favorite:  lapsang souchong.  The kind guy behind the counter found a bit extra for me from his private stash.

    After lunch at Biaggia’s we drove home for our nap, from which I just got up.  Next on the day’s agenda, drive into the Red Stag and eat dinner.  Do you see a pattern here?

         Waxing Crescent Moon of Winds

    The snow mass has begun to recede.  Our north facing property retains snow longer than our neighbors, but the snow over the firepit area has shrunk below the top rail of the fence.  The temperature today gives us the general trend, though we may have a “major snow event” next week.  These late snows don’t last.

    The gardening season will begin soon and I’m ready to go to work.  Check on my baby trees, finish the firepit, begin the permaculture planning. 

    Had a break through on the Weber Collection tour.  I will use the notion of a tea-master preparing a tea ceremony for guests unfamiliar with Japanese art and its long traditions.  Together we will choose items that will give each of us a once in a lifetime experience together.  Let’s wander through our collection of possible tea objects and decide what will work best.

    The Great Work is many small works.
