Haulin’ Art

Samhain                                       Waxing Thanksgiving Moon

A U-Haul 10 foot truck and I went into Minneapolis around 9:30 this morning bound for the MIA.  The MIA’s loading dock anyhow.  The Midwest Center for Art Conservation finished work on Jerry’s painting, Fall Band.  It’s a big painting, fitting into the truck with about 1/2″ to spare.  Jon and I put cardboard boxes underneath it for stability and shoved it, gently, against the back wall.  I promised to drive carefully, with no sudden stops.  Just like the first time carrying a baby.

That was AM.  Now I’m up from my nap and ready to construct my first tour for the Thaw exhibition which I give on Thursday for the Rochester Friends of the MIA.

Bit and Pieces

Life has begun to pick up pace as the garden winds down, the bees go into their ball for the winter while politics lurches toward the right or the just plain crazy.  As the holiseason proceeds, more and more schools send kids to the MIA and our special exhibitions, Embarrassment of Riches and the Thaw Collection of Native American Art draw folks into the museum.  That means tour prep.

Meanwhile Orion rises higher and higher in the sky, the Leonids will come this month and Mars rides above the southwestern horizon right after twilight.

Kate took good care of herself over the weekend and kicked a cold that looked pretty bad on Friday.   No dog news means no bad news, so that’s good news.
